Everyone who is anyone has been buzzing over Yves Saint Laurent’s Belle d’Opium perfume launch party; so much so that the grand ball has lived up to its legacy dating back to the infamous launch of the original ‘Opium’ fragrance, which took place in 1977.
It-girl Alexa Chung DJed (and chose the perfect ensemble to do it in: gray tee, cream cardigan and destructed black leather shorts from the YSL Spring 2010 collection), circus freaks (jugglers, fire breathers, and Tarot Card readers, of course) entertained and Minx Society was lucky enough to mingle with the likes of Whitney Port, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Alexis Bledel, MIA, fashion designer Jeremy Scott, internet sensation Cory Kennedy, photographer Mark “The Cobrasnake” Hunter and Ashley Olsen.
Our pick for the night: Maggie Gyllenhaal, who looked beyond stunning in a pink chiffon YSL Edition Soir 2010 dress with Yves Saint Laurent Hamptons Tribute sandals. We also loved Whitney Port’s choice: a black and tan Yigal Azrouël Spring 2010 collection dress (the reality star was inseparable from ‘The City’ camera crew, although we were surprised to find that mega-bitch and co-star New York socialite Olivia Palermo was not in attendance).
To top off the over-the-top bash, the celebrated fragrance was released through the gold cylinders at the end of the night…

Twi-hards were stoked last night when The Twilight Saga: New Moon won Film of the Year at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson won best female and male performer trophies as well as the best kiss award (after the always awkward Stewart tripped on her way to the stage and attempted an almost-kissing-tease-the-audience skit with Rob).
And, we were stoked last night when we stepped into Katy Perry’s MTV Movie Awards “California Girls” After Party at a Minx Society favorite Las Palmas in Hollywood. Despite the odd appearance made by the cast of Jersey Shore (which, we will admit, gave us a laugh or two), other guests included newly blonde Lindsay Lohan (who stuck to “mocktails” and kept her SCRAM ankle bracelet strategically hidden under her boots), Paris Hilton (who tried to make headlines by arriving with Jersey Shore ‘guido’ Vinny Guadagnino) and Nicky Hilton, Audrina Pattridge, Emma Roberts, and Russell Brand (of course).

If an overweight, super-energetic and borderline insane lead singer sounds entertaining – then you’ll love Tim Harrington, the acclaimed lead vocalist of New York City art-punk band, Les Savy Fav.
Known for Harrington’s on-stage antics, as much as the bands overwhelming talent to shred, Les Savy Fav have grown in popularity since their conception in 1995 and, even through a 2-year hiatus in 2005, continue to surprise packed-houses with their abrasive mixture of indie rock and post-punk.
Les Savy Fav will be performing this Sunday May 9th 2010 8:30PM @ the Echoplex in Los Angeles, with We Barbarians and LA Ghost. The show is 18+ and you can purchase tickets for $18 @ TicketWeb. Go and indulge in the madness.

Obviously, Cinco de Mayo is meant for partying hard. That is why we say, start early! We give you a list of some really fucking good Mexican joints in L.A. If you want the dish on the best places to party after those empanadas and flaming margaritas, email us at rsvp@minxsociety.com (tells us what you’re in the mood for, and we’ll tell you where to find it).
Always a Minx Society favorite, the uber trendy Loteria is celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a selection of special appetizers including empanadas made with corn masa and special drinks not on the regular menu: a cucumber margarita, a beet and orange margarita and an apple paloma. Don’t forget to try their famous shredded beef tacos and spicy jalapeño margaritas!

Serving their full menu and flaming margaritas until 2 a.m., the famous and authentic El Compadre is definitely going to be rowdy tonight! If you’re with a big group, go for the appetizer platter, which features the restaurants very best (grilled shrimp, chimichangas, quesadillas and carne asada).

Over 300 kinds of tequila at the bar and a Mexican wrestling theme throughout, what more could you ask for? El Carmen is a fabulous place to mingle (closely) and get hammered.

Silver Lake’s Malo is hip, hip, hip. Famous for their melt-in-your-mouth “chewy” chips and to-die-for ground beef pickle tacos (weird combo, right?) and stiff drinks; join sexy musician/artist/hipster types as they celebrate in style.

Minx Society had a fabulous time celebrating music super producer Timbaland’s 38th birthday last night at none other then Drai’s at Hollywood’s W Hotel. Guests in attendance included Justin Timberlake, Ciara, and Paris Hilton (pole dancing, of course). Email us at rsvp@minxsociety.com for party invites.

Dying for your very own $1,000 Herve Leger body-hugging sheath? How about that cutting-edge, head-turning $500 Badgley Mischka mini? What minx isn’t? So, you’ll hit up the Barney’s Warehouse Sale bi-annually – and even resort to EBay – because let’s face it, these babies will only be worn once and hidden in the depths of your last season-has-been-closet. But, doesn’t that get tiring, wasteful, and expensive? Minxes, search no further for the perfect steal, your fairy godmother has granted you Rent The Runway.
Rent The Runway, developed by two minxy Harvard graduates by the names of Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss, is an online rental service providing designer duds for $50 to $200 for a four-night loan. Sign-up and this season’s dress of your dreams is readily available (carefully delineated by designer or occasion: date night, black-tie affair, white party, dinner party etc.) All you have to do is order 4 days in advance to your event (or same day if you’re in New York), and decide whether you need that second back-up (size or style) for just $25. 4 days after the event, stick it back into their prepaid envelope and drop it in the mail and poof!
(Small print isn’t bad either: dry cleaning is included in the price, but damage insurance costs $5, and in the case of outright destruction of the dress, the renter is responsible for the full retail price.) FYI all dresses come with a custom garment bag and a “fit kit,” which includes double-sided tape, bra strap adjusters and deodorant stain removers.
Yes, this is real. Check Rent The Runway out now.
Minx Society had a fabulous time at nightlife impresario Brent Bolthouse’s (SLS’ Bazaar, Hyde) opening for Trousdale last night. Trousdale, located at the former “Blowfish Sushi,” is as hip as they come. A modern appeal swathes the space with a semi-17th century baroque vibe: in the main room – marble pillars, exposed black-painted pipes, splashes of gold and silver throughout, a massive chandelier and sexy booths that line the perimeter, and in the back room – a pool table, Andy Warhol’s famed rifle painting, and Phillipe Starck’s famed acrylic furniture.
To drink, we suggest the simply divine rose-water air and agave margarita. To eat, treat yourself to the Gruyere grilled cheeses. Get very, very excited: “In my mind, Trousdale will be similar to what we did with Hyde,” Bolthouse said. Open on Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday: see and be seen, my friends.

This past weekend, The Sally Morrison and The Everlon Diamond Knot Collection held a luncheon at Chateau Marmont to honor Academy Award nominee Carey Mulligan. We are oozing over Cat Deeley’s boho-chic belted mini and Carey’s yellow vintage frock. Other celebrities in attendence included Peter Sarsgaard, Nikki Reed, & Angie Harmon.

The gorgeous Ellen von Unwerth, (former supermodel for 10 years and now, one of the most brilliant fashion photographers in the world), has recently released Fräulein, 428 pages revealing the most delicious minxes she has ever photographed. Featured Female icons include: Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Vanessa Paradis, Britney Spears, Eva Mendes, Lindsay Lohan, Dita von Teese, Adriana Lima, Carla Bruni, Eva Green, Christina Aguilera, Monica Bellucci and dozens more.

Fraulein means “unmarried woman” in German, but, according to an interview with Nylon, Ellen von Unwerth has a very different definition for it.“I thought, fraulein is such a perfect name for the kind of woman I photograph; frivolous, fun, bubbly, and has lots of personality,” she said. Reportedly, Von Unwerth began the project by picking through 1,500 boxes of pictures, searching for the perfect images that reflected eroticsized femininity, intrigue, and romance. The outcome is one of the sexiest books you’ll ever see.
