LACMA Unmasks The Resnick Pavilion

On Saturday, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art hosted "The Unmasking" gala, which celebrated the opening of the lavish $45-million Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion, named for the major donors and owners of Fiji Water and Pom Wonderful. A-list Angelenos all made an appearance at the formal event, such as Christina Aguilera, Kim Kardashian, Teri Hatcher, Tom Hanks, Kathryn Bigelow, James Franco, and Monet Mazur. But, Olivia Wilde (in a dazzling Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2010 gown) and Nicole Richie (one-of-a-kind creation from the Marchesa Fall 2009 collection) donned our favorites for the evening.

Art World’s Favorite Outlaw

Everyone loves an outlaw, and Robert Williams just happens to be the most celebrated one in the art world. Luckily, you can learn even more about him this Wednesday at LACMA. The documentary Robert Williams: Mr. Bitchin’, will be unveiled for a one-night only showing, benefiting its Prints and Drawings Council.

The movie recounts Williams’ emergence from humble beginnings in hotrods and the Zap Comix collective, to his surfacing as a celebrated artist. What became fifteen years in the making has resulted in an irreverent and comical look at all of the things that are so right about contemporary American art. The audience gets an inside look at Williams’ background, from his 1979 book
