Legendary and life-changing fashion designer (deity, really), Giorgio Armani unveiled his luxury hotel in Milan last month. The hotel is a paragon of fastidious, harmonious design decorated with Armani Casa furniture. A sense of luxury, timelessness and sleek grace oozes from every suite. Soft, seamless textiles, polished exotic wood floors are some of the aesthetic charms along with peer-less panoramic views of the city. The seventh and eighth floors of the hotel are the communal spaces with a traditional Italian gastronomy on the seventh floor on a glossy checkerboard floor.

The design is decidedly minimalist with a strong presence of restrained opulence that is directly evocative of the Midas touch that Armani bestows on all his garments. Seams are invisible on the upholstery, the mirrors cut like diamonds.

Each guest is treated like a long-lost member of the royal family with lifestyle managers waiting to fulfill every need or wish with the utmost discretion. Amenities such as an IT and business center, pool and spa are of course included in this paragon of perfect precision. In fact, the hotel is even shaped like the letter  “A.”

You can get down with the cosmic dog at Laughing Lotus & replenish at Cafe Gratitude…or just grab an It’s-It ice cream sandwich at the corner store. It’s an SF tradition!

Screw the Hampton’s- -this summer we are heading to Soho and parking ourselves up at the Crosby Street Hotel. It is a few steps away from the action of Soho but enough cobblestones away to relax; a word that seems foreign in a place like New York.

Thanks to British duo Tim and Kit Kemp who are behind the luxury hotel chain Firmdale, we have a cozy space in New York that makes us feel like we are living in a page of ‘*Architectural Digest’.* Firmdale operates 6 boutique hotels in the UK and have finally hopped over to our side of the pond. This is their first North American venture and we hope it is not their last.

Design plays a huge part in the success and satisfaction factor of this hotel. The color combinations mixed with the Kemp’s flawless attention to detail result in an inviting and calming space. The art collections and design themes that are integrated into the foyer, bar and individual rooms make us contemplate even going to MoMa. Why go uptown when we have our own exhibits at our crash pad?

The design is by far our favorite amenity but if visuals don’t get you off, there are a slew of other items that will. Their roof top garden brings you to a place that feels magical. Its serene settings combined with a glass of spiked lemonade makes for the perfect summer afternoon. If you are in the mood to get classy, they also offer an afternoon tea with all the crumpets and pastries you can think of.

Being a minx and jet setting as often as we do, we are not easily phased by hotel aesthetics and services. However, when a place makes our eyes pop and our knees buckle, the way the Crosby Hotel does, we know it is top-notch.

Chicago’s (more-affordable-Coachella-on-steroids) premier music festival, Lollapalooza, is celebrating its 20th birthday this year and it’s going to be one hell of a party! Between indie rock, pop, electronica and hip-hop acts, this very special edition of Lollapalooza features one of the most exciting lineups we’ve ever laid eyes on. On the weekend of August 5th, 20011 for a measly $215, prepare yourself for sets by Coldplay, Muse, Eminem, Bright Eyes, Explosions in the Sky, Local Natives,  Ellie Goulding, Lykke Li, and The Kills, to name a few. Check out the lineup in its entirety here.

Hardwood and marble floors will greet you, along with rooms that boast 9-foot ceilings, plasma TV’s (not that you’ll be staying in for too long), whirlpool bathtubs (which go great with a bottle of wine), Italian bedding, and 24-hour room service. In addition to the Playboy club, they also have an exquisite lobby bar, Rojo, and ‘Rock and Roll’ Chef Kerry Simon’s new signature restaurant, Simon at Palms Place (his LA hot spots include LA Market in DTLA and Simon LA at The Sofitel).

The restaurant is perfect for a Vegas trip because if you go with a big group, and we know you will, it’s often hard to find a place that everyone will enjoy. But Simon at Palms Place takes care of that by offering a little bit of everything, serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner in addition to a sushi bar and an expansive dessert menu. A dinner before a big night out might include their Sushi Pizza (tuna, crab, avocado, wasabi and rice), the Filet Mignon with wild mushrooms, or the Miane Lobster and Garganelli. And while Vegas buffets can be totally hit or miss, the all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch offers sushi, crepes, fresh fruit smoothies, scones, lobster Benedict, and (if you can handle it) cotton candy. And did we mention that this oasis in the desert also happens to be casino/gaming free? We think this is a pretty great option, considering we’d rather spend our dollars on a fabulous night out then spinning at the roulette table. We know we already told you about how great The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas was going to be, but thanks to our stay last night we can now confirm that it’s, without a doubt, the best hotel on the strip (don’t stay anywhere else).  The $3.9 billion dollar place opened up shop last night with a surprise performance by Brandon Flowers, endless amounts of champagne, and opulence everywhere.  Free up a weekend and get there ASAP!

In Vegas it’s all or nothing, and for a group of Deutsche Bank investors who decided to ante up $4 billion (one of the most expensive resorts in Vegas history) to develop a new hotel and casino, they’re hoping the gamble will pay off.

By the look of things, we’re betting it will. The Cosmopolitan will be the latest addition to the Las Vegas Strip. Cosmopolitan executives have said their approach in design, style, and amenities will cater to a new type of client, the kind who finds other Vegas hotels too formal and are searching for relaxed luxury. Sounds like a good spot for a Minx!

The hotel and casino consists of a double tower with all glass exterior, 800 hotel rooms, and unbelievable 2,200 condo-hotel units. The casino will host 83 gambling tables and 1,474 slot machines in a respectable 75,000 square foot space, while the retail and restaurant area spreads across 300,000 square feet. When you’re there expect art installations, a full spa, four lounges and bars to get your drink on, and what is expected to be the hippest nightclub on the strip called Marquee from the Tao Group.

But the biggest buzz seems to be over the Cosmpolitan’s “Casino Cabans,” a feature unique to this hotel and the Strip. Just what are these casino cabans you ask? Unfortunately, nobody knows, as the developers have yet to release details, but presumably these will be huge, private lounges within the casino (amazing!).

To boost their coolness even more, The Cosmopolitan will feature an extensive collection of in-house restaurants. With LA trend-space STK (steak for the gods) and the provocative French brasserie Comme Ça, New York’s King of all things Italian Scarpetta (which also just opened up at Bev Hills’ Montage Hotel), and Estiatorio Milos (what’s dubbed as the “finest Greek restaurant in North America”), The Cosmopolitan’s specially selected list of the hottest spots in all of the US, you won’t want to go anywhere else.

While the Cosmopolitan is set to open December 15th, the real night to go is New Years Eve, when the hotel will feature a concert with Jay Z and Coldplay- undoubtedly the hottest show and ticket in town. (Those lucky enough to attend will be amongst Jennifer Lopez, John Travolta, Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston). Ticket or no ticket, the hotel’s club Marquee is set to host the best bash on the strip and will showcase the concert on gigantic projection screens and serve as the premiere after hours destination. Amidst rumors of his imminent retirement from the illustrious house of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld’s has ignited the global design community with news of his upcoming project: designing Isla Moda, a man-made island 20 kilometers off the coast of Dubai. Miami-based architecture firm, Oppenheimer, and the Kor Hotel group recently contractedLagerfield to design the 1.2 million square foot territory, in what might be the most stylish and lucrative ‘terraforming’ endeavor in recorded history.

Isla Moda translates into ‘Fashion Island’ in Spanish, and with Lagerfeld steering the helm, we couldn’t imagine a more perfect name to christen the most revolutionary venture of his career. The Oppenheimer firm will construct 150 limited-edition residential units, comprised of apartments and villas, along with three luxury hotels. Moreover, Lagerfeld and his design team plan to emulate the floating palaces of India, for an aesthetic fusing eastern opulence with the exotic flair of a tropical oasis. Current projections place the estimated completion date of the project somewhere in 2014. When asked about the Isla Moda project, Lagerfeld said, ‘Dubai is a fashion bud on the verge of blossoming into the next fashion hub of the world … Isla Moda has tremendous potential to be the style icon of the future and I intend on driving the island to high style stardom. ‘

Isla Moda is primed to become the cosmopolitan oasis for the 21st Century and will officially be the world’s first fashion luxury island. Dubai Infinity Holdings is financing the venture and faithfully believes in the economic feasibility of Germany’s most prolific fashionista. Also, once completed, Lagerfeld envisions Isla Moda as the perfect setting for designers to host high-profile runway shows and limited edition product launches.
