LA’s Chicest New Daytime Spots

Luckily for us Angelenos, a slew of chic new daytime spots have opened right in time for the start of Spring. Early birds will be happy to know that this list features eateries that open as early as 8 AM! Enjoy divine lattes and delicious early-to-mid-day plates (breakfast or lunch – whatever suits your fancy) at any of these new unique restaurants. Schedule business meetings or catch up with your fashion-forward friends for a chance to see and be seen. Not a detail is spared when it comes to food and ambiance – but would we ever settle for anything else?

Au Fudge

Jessica Biel opened a new space that caters to parents and their children perfectly. Au Fudge is smack dab on the best part of Melrose Ave, right next to celebrity-frequented Craig’s. With a shabby-chic vibe, Cal-French menu, mixology cocktails & kid’s playroom with au pairs, Au Fudge makes for quite the experience. This place is great day and night, but there are an abundance of plates that might be more fun to nosh on when the sun is up (for example: stack of pancakes – chocolate chip, blueberry or buttermilk, French omelette, rainbow pasta). Also – check out the marketplace during the day, which features absolutely adorably inventive pastries and cakes. You definitely have to love kids to frequent this place, though! Au Fudge is chicness overload where kids rule. Save room for dessert.

At one of our favorite boutique hotels, Avalon in Beverly Hills, is a new restaurant is getting all kinds of attention called Vivianne. The entire space is designed by Kelly Wearstler, which feels fresh yet reminiscent of mid-century days overlooking the picturesque pool. This is a place to dine and unwind mid-day and enjoy good-for-you smoothies, breakfast items like lemon ricotta pancakes, or lunch items like ricotta ravioli, and definitely a drink or two like a classic cosmopolitan.

This amazing all-day restaurant is tucked away in Echo Park and is getting lots of buzz as the most stylish place on the Eastside. Plan to come with friends or solo and pull up a spot at the coffee bar, but be sure to wear your hipster best and enjoy breakfast or lunch. For breakfast, have a smoked salmon-topped potato pancake while a solid burger comes through at lunch. This spot manages to have a neighborhood feel, but that neighborhood just happens to obviously the coolest one in the city. Though this is a newcomer, we think this will become an LA staple that is here to stay!

The Rose

At last! One of our favorite Venice breakfast spots The Rose, has been reopened and totally revamped. Rose Cafe is an iconic restaurant in the heart of Venice Beach, California serving locals and travelers alike since 1979. Still oozing with charm, this al fresco daytime spot has a brand new menu which features unique dishes like a chorizo scramble, The Rose breakfast burrito, and charred avocado toast. If you’re local, cruise over here on your bike.

If you are in the mood for yummy food and the cheeriest of vibes in a hipster-esque setting (placed in a strip mall = cool), check out this new eatery. Those famous brother restauranteurs (behind Jon & Vinny’s, Animal, Son of a Gun) and chef Ludo are at it again with Trois Familia! This daytime spot is open from 10 AM to 3 PM, featuring French-Mexican breakfast and lunch in the heart of Silver Lake. Churro French toast and hash brown chilaquiles: may we suggest your next hangover meal be had here.
