Where To Eat, Sleep, Drink in London

Let’s face it London & Los Angeles are both beautiful, wonderful, & amazing, yet totally incomparable. We here at Minx Society are equally ever-so-passionately in love with both cities. It’s hard to keep up & stay in the know with the fast-paced ever-changing London Town, even for native Londoners. Well, we want to make it easy for every minx to fall in love with London, by giving you this guide of Angeleno-approved, celebrity-favorite hot spots to eat, sleep and drink in 2013.

1. Sleep

The minxiest place to stay is Thompson Hotel’s the London Belgraves. Brought to you by the same genuises behind Hollywood’s infamous Roosevelt Hotel and Beverly Hills’ Thompson Hotel, this place is equally cool in one of the richest neighborhood’s in the city, Belgravia. Just steps from Prada, Christian Loubitin, Agent Provocoteur is this brand new hotel fit for every minx.

Once your greeted by hot, dapper looking staff, enter into a sophisticated and sexy world with dim lighting, bookcases, exposed brick walls, and velvet couches.  You’ll find other minxes, sleek business men, and musician typers chilling out.

The rooms are quite spacious (which is unusual for London or any other European city) complete with sitting areas and giant bathrooms with tubs beside gleaming glass windows overlooking greenery from neighboring parks straight out of a story book. The beds are incredibly comfortable bed, with its deliciously cool and silky high thread count sheets. The service is also impeccable, they will give you the VIP treatment with complimentary Sake and itineraries so hip and in-the-know. We can’t wait to go back!

2. Eat

La Bodega Negra

This celebrity-favorite is one of the coolest spots in the world! No, London is definitely not known for Mexican food, but this sexy  restaurant has delicious latin-inspired food. Perhaps, what instantly got us was the XXX, Amsterdam Red Light District frontage suggesting that a strip club was housed inside. Enter to find a super hot hostess who leads you downstairs to an underground cave filled with London’s hottest munching on guacamole and chips and sipping on strong ass drinks with names like Tijuana Whores. The music is bumping via DJ and the food is really, really good. Make a night out of it.

Located on the 38th and 39th floors of the Heron Tower, SUSHISAMBA delivers a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine with the best views of London. This is another spot where you can make a night out of it, enjoy innovative dishes and cocktails under the stars and mingle alongside the city’s finest. It’s very tough to get a reservation at this new spot, so make sure to book way in advance. Yup, it’s by the same owners of the Vegas location that you’re already in love with.

Another successful restaurant hailing from the States is Balthazar and this is the place to get brunch! With a look of startling similarity to the original restaurant, Balthazar London has the red banquettes, large mirrors and imposing columns with a vibe fit for every fashionista. It’s always buzzing and the food is fabulous, try the Apple Cinnamon Pancakes, Classic Eggs Benedict and keep the mimosas flowing.

Duck & Waffle

Located 40 floors up in the Heron Tower, it’s the tallest restaurant in London. Directly below it is that cool fushion restaurant we already told you about, Sushisamba. Open 24/7, upscale Duck & Waffle is the only one of it’s kind, and it takes English food to a whole new level. The menu is divided into 5 sections – ‘To Start’, ‘Raw’, ‘Freshly Baked Breads’, ‘Small Plates’ and ‘For the Table’. Get a couple of plates for the table like: scallops, bacon wrapped dates, the duck & waffle, and the rib eye. Come for breakfast, lunch or dinner – no matter what time of day, youll be impressed.

STK London has the same vibe of its LA and Vegas locations, blending the two concepts of modern steakhouse and lounge. It’s really sceney, the energy is always high, and the comfort food like filet mignon with lobster mashed potatoes are always delicious. So if you’re feeling a night of pigging out in style and eating parmesan truffle fries actually looks sophisticated and chic, this is the place for you.

This Michelin-starred hot spot serves up the best Indian food in the city. Amaya describes itself as “a new kind of Indian restaurant”, with a very classy take on Indian street food – prepared and cooked in a tandoor or on a charcoal grill at the back of the room – in cool surroundings. It may sound a little confused, but it works brilliantly, largely because the food is spectacular. This is located in Belgravia, walking distance to Hotel Belgraves and it’s a must must must.

The Orangery

A trip to London is not complete without afternoon tea and a proper visit to Hyde Park. Luckily, you can do both at the posh Orangery located directly in the famous sprawling park grounds.  The Orangery offers one of the finest tea selections in London with over ten different flavours to choose from, as well as a range of premium wines and champagnes and aftertoon tea with mini sandwiches and scones. Sit outside, take in London. We go every time.

3. Drink

Groucho Club

This is one of those celebrity-favorite spots  (regulars include Sienna Miller, Robert Pattinson, Bono) that never goes out of fashion. The Groucho was dreamed up by a group of 15  publishers, writers and agents who were sick of having nowhere to meet in London over 27 years ago. It’s simply magical. Even though it’s member’s only, you can obtain “temporary membership”  by emailing reception@thegrouchoclub.com.

This is yet another celebrity-favorite South Kensington club that is still cool, years and years later. On any given night, you’ll go to this underground tiny club and dance alongisde Prince Harry or Rihanna. If you look the part, you’ll have no problem getting in – but just to be safe email olivia@boujis.com with your chic credentials.

Sketch is a stylish restaurant, bar and gallery – an unusual and interesting concept that works well in its Central London location. It’s sprawled over 2 flors and there are many rooms.Though they do not take bookings for drinks, they work on a first come first served basis. Get there at 9 and n request to have a drink in Glade, The Parlour or East Bar and see where the night takes you!

Cirque Le Soir

Celebs like Ed Westwick, Justin Beiber, Miley Cyrus, and Rhianna love this circus-inspired mega club. Be welcomed at the door by the ringmaster and then escorted downstairs to a varierty of oddities like clowns to dwarfs and fire breathers. Think a bigger, more impressive version of Bootsy Bellows. Aerial acts are happening alongisde burlesque acts and the craziness just never stops.
