Indie Rock

HAIM

Made up of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim along with their drummer, Dash Hutton, HAIM (pronounced like hime) formed right here in LA in 2006. In short, they are the new generations Fleetwood Mac, which makes sense considering Lindsey Buckingham has heavily influenced their music. These girls are no joke and you’d be a fool not to give them a listen. Be sure to give “Don’t Save Me,” “The Wire,” “Forever,” and “Falling,” a listen to from their debut album, Days Are Gone. The album is absolute awesome sauce and definitely worth the buy. From Friday, April 11th to Sunday, April 13th and from Friday, April 18th to Sunday, April 20th, HAIM will be playing Coachella. During the week between the two festival dates, HAIM will be at The Fox Theater in Pomona on Wednesday, April 16th.

CHVRCHES

Scotsmen Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty formed CHVRCHES in 2011 in their home city of Glasgow. The group’s debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, was released in September 2013. Unfortunately they have no dates in or around LA in the near future.

Rock/Pop Punk Rock

The Pretty Reckless

Do you ever wonder what happened to Jenny from Gossip Girl? Well, she decided to put down her sewing machine and pick up the microphone in order to sing for her rock band, The Pretty Reckless. Taylor Momsen, Ben Phillips, Mark Damon and Jamie Perkins formed The Pretty Reckless in New York, NY in 2009. Their latest album, Going to Hell, will be available everywhere on March 18th. It’s been listed as one of “The Most Anticipated Album of 2014” by Revolver Magazine. They will be playing at Club Nokia on Wednesday, April 23rd.

American Pinup

The alternative/punk rock band formed in 2010 out of Westchester, New York. They create a unique and fresh alternative sound thanks in large part to frontwoman, Lauren West. She combines her soulful, melodic crooning with raspy, punk rock vocals that will just blow you away. They haven’t made it out this far west but when they do, be sure to get in line ASAP.

Paramore

It’s true that the original Paramore broke up in 2006 but that hasn’t stopped the current trio of Hayley Williams, Jeremy Davis, and Taylor York from rockin’ out and taking names. Late in 2013, Paramore released their self-titled album Paramore, which is amazing and definitely worth the listen.  On Saturday, August 16th, Paramore will be live at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, and will be at the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord the following day.
