Hottest Reservations for Valentine’s Day

Are you taking out a minx you want to impress? Of course, if you have something cute and thoughtful planned like a picnic or home cooked meal, that’s cool too. But, if you’re looking to impress a chick who digs the finer things in life – you’ll be set with a reservation at any of these places and she’ll be raving about it to her girlfriends for weeks. Here are LA’s hottest restaurants on our radar for Valentine’s Day. All chic. All romantic. All on fire.

Republique is the city’s hottest new restaurant right now and maybe even for good. The atmosphere itself is so spectacular, that once inside, you feel as if you have been transported to some wonderful, magical city that only exists in dreams. The food is seafood-driven and French-inspired, but we would just call it divine. We suggest ordering the Brussel Sprouts, Tempura Broccolini & Green Beans, Butternut Squash Anglioti, Mussels 7, Crab Spaghetti, Bread with Normandy Butter, and indulge in the freshest oysters on the planet.

Hip and Cool are the first words that come to mind when describing this urban, rustic Italian hot spot. The wide open restaurant, enclosed by walls of exposed brick with an unfinished ceiling offers an industrial, yet chic aesthetic is regularly packed with people that would easily be dubbed the in-crowd. Located in Downtown LA, there’s just something about the sounds and vibe of Bestia that make you feel alive while dining here. Try the Fusilli al Ragu di Angello, Squid Ink Risotto, and Gorgonzola Kale Pizza.

Here’s a secret: if you want a minx to fall in love with you, take her to LA’s most romantic hidden gem, Pace, in Laurel Canyon. This charming hot spot (pronounced “Pah-chay”) doubles as a warm sanctuary serving the most delicious sustainable, organic refined Italian cuisine. Patrons are greeted with crayons at their paper–covered tables (perfect for date night!). Menu musts include the Homemade pappardelle with lobster, leeks & zucchini seasoned with garlic & oregano in white wine truffle oil cream sauce),  Roasted butternut squash & ricotta cheese tortellini with julienne mustard greens in a sage white wine cream sauce, and the Seared Hawaiian big eye tuna. And, if you’re in the mood for some people watching (or think your date will be impressed by such a thing) – this is your spot; celebrity regulars include Ryan Seacrest, Zac Efron, & Britney Spears.

Gjelina may not be new to the scene, but it’s still on fire. With a hip, romantic urban decor and a dining room full of the west-side’s most beautiful people, Gjelina feels like it has been curated by the coolest gallery owner in the city. The eclectic menu measures up to it’s reputation; Gjelina simply does everything just perfectly. Make a reservation ASAP and try the Fontina, Goat Cheese & Truffle Oil Pizza, Braised Pork Meatballs, Braised Artichokes with Burrata, & Grilled East Coast Squid.

Zoom up into the sky in a private elevator to the 13th floor of a building adjacent to the Central Library. This hipster meets Gatsby rooftop spot is one of the prettiest in the city —patterned tile floors, spectacular downtown views, luminous trees. Inside, the chic Art Deco ambiance is complete with waitresses wearing striped pinafores and thigh-high stockings. The menu is French-inspired without being too stuffy; try the Baked Brie, Pan Roasted Chicken, Lobster Mashed Potatoes. Share a bottle of wine or go for cocktails like the Midnight in Paris.
