Buzzworthy Band: MS MR Making Moves

Time to pop in your ear buds or put on your noise cancelling headphones, minxes, because boy do we have a new band for you. When listening to MS MR, two words come to mind…BLOWN AWAY. Their sound is truly amazing; it’s a hint of future that’s somewhat reminiscent of the 80’s. Hailing from New York, MS MR consists of duo vocalist Lizzy Plapinger and producer Max Hershenow, has taken the music world by storm with the release of their buzz-worthy album “Secondhand Rapture.”

Their sound is like Ellie Goulding meets The xx with a hint of College and a dash of Florence and the Machine; ridiculous female vocals with a digitalized, electronic sound. And, it doesn’t hurt that they have their look down too – hipster version of Barbie & Ken, anyone? If you want to get a basic idea of their music check out Hurricane, and Fantasy. Free streaming of these songs can be found here:  We’re also obsessed with this remix of Hurricane by CHVRCHES and know you will be too.

Since hitting the electro-pop scene, MS MR has skyrocketed in popularity. Half of their tour is already sold out. Starting on the East Coast and moving through Canada and the Mid West, MS MR will be stopping by the Observatory in Santa Ana on June 14. The very next day (June 15), they will be gracing us with their presence here in Los Angeles at the Fonda Theater. That’s their only show in LA, folks. Tickets are starting at $25 and the doors open at 10 pm. MS MR goes up north to San Francisco and continue on to Europe, leaving our great city for the foreseeable future.

Do yourself a favor and buy a ticket. We wouldn’t be writing about MS MR if we didn’t think they were worthy.

I agree, what an awesome band. Just saw the video for “Hurricane” and it fits the vibe of the song perfectly! Going to get around to picking up their debut LP this week for sure.
