Refine Mixers To Host First Friday Featuring LAB ART

On Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012

Fall is officially here and we’re not off the beach quite yet, but luckily we don’t have to stray too far from the water to add some new gallery nights to the mix. For your first art show fix of season, head to the Westside on Friday, October 5th for a LAB ART pop-up at the Refine House in Venice.

The LAB ART group has created a network of artists focused on experimentation, collaboration, and good causes. Their community involvement is just as much about raising money for charities as it is providing a social connection between art and the all the residents around town. This specific pop-up will feature special guests artist Kelcey Fisher and artist/photographer Randall Bass who both have cool styles worth checking out.

Kelcey Fisher is an artist and founder of KFish Design. He incorporates street art techniques into his studio art, canvas paintings focusing on the faces of iconic figures of history amongst bright and juxtaposed backdrops. Some of is work includes text by way of quotes around faces like Clint Eastwood, Malcom-X, and Woody Allen. He utilizes a lot of color, powerful messages, and some good old splatter techniques.

Randall Bass is a fine art photographer turned visual artist, finding a cohesive blend between the mediums. His art is driven less by specific subjects and more on the overall compositions, texture, and shapes of a subject, which brings a surreal quality to everyday scenes and landscapes. He also uses a lot of color and light, which he manipulates and refracts creating new shapes and experiences.

The event will run from 7-10:30 pm providing art and music to enjoy while meandering around with drinks from an open bar by Refine specialty cocktails (which are low calorie AND all natural of course.) Join us for an amazing night, we’ll see you there! The Refine House is located at 619 San Juan Ave, Venice CA 90219.
