Sexy & Sophisticated: Silver Lake’s Bar Stella

On Friday, August 24th, 2012

A touch of class and unique style has come to Silverlake’s Sunset Junction in the form of a new bar, courtesy of owner Gareth Kanner. The French eatery Café Stella has expanded by adding on the new Moroccan-themed whimsical hot spot Bar Stella right next door.

The sexy, yet sophisticated atmosphere basically calls out for you to perch on a platner lounge chair and chat among cool art-minded intellectuals while a white-jacketed waiter delivers you hand-crafted martinis…there’s definitely an upscale vibe and the drink selection reflects that.

The bar’s carefully selected cocktails and draft beers are served seven days a week, opening at 10 AM on the weekends. Beer selection takes the exciting craft route including options like the Chimay Triple (brewed by Trappist monks), White Nest Ale, and Three Philosophers Quadrupel. The cocktail list includes classics and popular moderns like Moscow Mules (vodka, ginger beer, and lime), martinis, margaritas, and Manhattans.

The décor certainly isn’t lacking any flavor either. Sit at the marble bar outfitted with a an exotic bird painting on the brick wall behind it, or if you’re feeling the night air – grab a bench covered with pillows on the outdoor patio with its adorable black and white checkered floor. The Moroccan inspired theme is repeated throughout the bar with the use of tall vases filled with flowers and various statuettes sprinkled around.

The spot is perfect for a date night as it’s pretty intimate, but also serves groups well with a lounge type environment. In fact, it might be ideal for a first date, if things go well you can head next door to eat or the other way around…just a thought. Who says public make-out sessions can’t be classy?
