Basic Needs For Every Minx
Though we minxes can get a little wild some nights, we always manage to wake up the next day leaving the house looking fresh, ready to face the world. But, of course, we couldn’t look so glam on the reg without the help of certain basic needs.
1. The Best Cleansing Regimen
We know…we’ve all been there. It’s Girls Night Out, you’re dancing on tables with your besties, fast forward to stumbling into your place, hitting the pillow, and suddenly it’s morning. Your eyes are basically glued shut with mascara, fake lashes, liner, shadow or what have you, and the results aren’t hot. And, if you make a habit out of this little mishap – the results won’t be hot long term either (not taking off your make up causes rapidly defining wrinkles!). Get some make up wipes, stick them in your nightstand and make a habit out of actually using them before you pass out. As for mornings, the absolute best skin care regimen for all skin types: squirt Cetaphil onto a Clairisonic Facial Brush ($105) and follow up with a multi-vitamin moisturizer such as Sonya Dakar’s Hydrasoft Cream ($79) – then you’re ready to face the day.
Minty fresh breath is a must. Simple toothbrushes don’t do the trick anymore! Every minx should have a Sonicair electric toothbrush ($60) & use it 2-4 times a day paired with Therabreath mouthwash ($14) & flossing. You won’t need gum ever again if you keep this up.
2. Waist-Defining Pieces
Boho, over-sized pieces are always minx-approved, but sometimes every minx needs to show off a little bit. Waist defining pieces have the power to make women appear much thinner, with strategic lines & hems. Fitted jackets have the power to add sophisticated chicness & look flattering on everyone! A classic black cropped blazer belongs in every minx’s closet, we love: this Aqua 3/4 Sleeve Blazer ($98), this Bop Basics Draped Blazer ($248), this Naven Blazer ($363), or this Elizabeth & James Lace Up Blazer ($445). Or, really stand out with this Studded Moto Cropped Jacket ($110) & this Cropped Sequin Jacket ($32)! As for dresses, make sure you have a go-to little black dress like this BB Dakota Dress ($68) & Theyskens Theory Dress ($395) – for skirts, go with this Sedona Belted Skirt ($38) or this BB Dakota Lace Skirt ($98).
3. Eye Appeal

After all eyes are the windows to your soul! If you’re keeping it natural & casual – simply line the base of your top lashes. Then throw on some black mascara on your top and bottom lashes – this will make your eyes pop! If you’re going for more of a dramatic look – wing the tips out (see above) or line the bottom as well. We recommend CoverGirl Perfect Blend Eyeliner ($5!) – it’s honestly better than MAC as it applies easily and doesn’t bleed throughout the day – and Maybelline Very Black Mascara ($5!). There’s no need to spend more on these basic needs as these are totally comparable to the more “upscale” make up lines.
4. Casual All-In-One-Outfit Dresses
Because you’re so busy, these dresses can make you look runway ready (& your life just that much easier)! For mini, maxi & hi-low, flowy summer dresses, go with Blu Moon by Planet Blue – every color, every pattern & looks fabulous on any body type!
5. Denim of all Kinds
Denim will never go out of style. Our favorite jeans of the moment: J Brand Ankle Jeans ($200) or Sugar & Sequins Basic Skinny Jeans ($42 – use code minxsociety for additional 20% off), shorts: Vintage Levi’s Jean Shorts ($84) or Low-Rider Denim Shorts ($66), skirts: Free People High-Waisted Skirt ($88), tops: Cutoff Denim Shirt ($98), Denim Dazed Shirt ($75), jackets: Rider Denim Jacket ($128) & Studded Denim Jacket ($66), Dress: Free People Bodycon Denim Dress ($54).
6. Lip Service

Chapped lips aren’t hot. Keep your lips in perfection condition by using this scrub by Bliss ($18) and this chap-stick by Yu-Be ($5). Every minx should have Du Wop Lip Venom ($16), gloss – try this one by Lancome ($18) + matte red, orange, and pink lipsticks and you’ll be covered for standing out for every occasion.
7. Gel Manicures
Chipped nails are so…90′s grunge. Luckily for us hard-at-work, on-the-go girls, the Gel Manicure was created; go two weeks without a chip. Our current favorite polishes include OPI’s collection & Gelish & colors for summer: mint, nude, white, hot pink! One of our favorite nail salons in LA: Wynn Nail Spa (affordable and really nice in the middle of town).
8. Giant (Comfortable) Heels
Let’s be real – running around town in 5 inch heels takes a lot of effort. That’s why every minx should have a couple of go-to heels that are always reliable, comfortably speaking. Our favorite: Steve Madden’s Dynemite ($66).
9. Nourishment
If you’re a busy, social minx, make sure you are taking a Women’s Daily Vitamin. Stay hydrated with Evolution’s Pineapple Coconut Water & do the wonderful Pressed Juicery Cleanse once every 6 months! If you’re an avid drinker, take Drinkwel regularly.
