5 Summer Beauty Trends To Try Now
Inspired by runway collections, we have chosen 5 summer beauty trends we think you should try ASAP. You don’t need to be an expert for any of these looks, and it will give you that added edge to your switch up your everyday look.
Power Brow
With heavy brows being huge in Spring 2011, the trend is here to stay and bigger than before. No pun intended. Spring and Fall 2012 RTW was all about the heavy brow and flawless face. Collections like Alexander Wang, Kenzo and Balmain were full of bare fresh faces and a bold brow, creating a striking look that’s super easy to achieve. Instead of a cakey foundation try a tinted moisturizer (loving this one from Jouer) ,then use a brow pencil or gel (try these from Benefit) to thicken up your natural shape. Throw on your fav lip balm and a little highlighter and voila! Our muse for this look: Aussie supermodel Bambi. Ugh, this girl can do no wrong.
Recommended products: Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint ($38), Benefit Speed Brow Gel ($16).
Bright Matte Lip
Adding a pop of color whether it’s a statement bag, neon nails, or in this case a bold lip will add instant edge to any look. Pantone named orange-red “shade of the year” so the brighter the better. Opt for a matte lip which is more vibrant and long-lasting. Tangerine shades and even a bright red will compliment almost any skin tone. One of our favorites are this YSL lipstick in Tangy Mandarin which is boosted with vitamins leaving your lips feeling super soft and MAC also has amazing shades to play dress up with. Again, try to keep the rest of your face pretty neutral and not overdone – the lip should be the main focus.
Recommended Products: Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Lip Stick ($30), Nars Semi Matte Lipstick ($24).
Beach Glow
Get that “I just woke up from a nap on the beach and got perfectly sunkissed” look (even though that never happens), with a few of our favorite products. This look is welcome back with open arms every Spring & Summer season. Celebrity Makeup Artist Sophia Flores recommends adding a gold highlighter on top of your cheekbones & center of the nose for a perfectly sun kissed look. “Adding a shimmery liquid bronzer to your foundation will give you an all over beautiful bronze glow.” NARS has an orgasm collection which, um speaks for itself.
Recommended Products: Nars Orgasm Collection, Anastassia Highlighting Creme Duo ($26), Benefit Sun Beam Highlighter ($26).
Out of the Ocean Hair
All over the Runways was this wet hair look. At first I was anti the look which could be mistaken for a little greasy, but after a quick change of heart- it ‘s so chic when done right. Not to mention you don’t need to go into a salon to do it, and it’s rockery meach beachy which we love. Designers like Mugler, Giambiasta Vali and again Alexander Wang have this wet look perfected- whether slicked back or tousled like the models just jumped out of the ocean and unto the runway. To achieve this use a mousse, texturing crème, or specialty beach waves spray on your root and pull it through your tips lightly, depending on how bold you want to go.
Recommended Products: Frederic Fekkai Beach Waves ($25), Tigi Catwalk Sessions Salt Spray ($19).
Neutral Nails
Ok so this isn’t a groundbreaking trend but neutral nails were seen all over the runway from designers like Christopher Kane and Marc by Marc Jacobs . A pretty manicure can go a long way, and after seeing bright neons and patterns designs during Coachella season, the nude nail is refreshing to us. Try Essie’s “A Crewd Interest” which has a peachy tint which is good for lighter skintones, or if you have a darker complexion go for a nude with golden hues or brown based.
Recommended products: Essie A Crewd Interest ($8), NCLA Poolside Party ($16), OPI Tutti Frutti ($9).
