There has been some dispute over the originating details of anonymous DJ duo Flight Facilities, (perhaps they’re from Trinidad and Tobego, maybe Australia) but what isn’t up for debate is the quality of their music…it’s good. If you’ve been waiting for them to surface close to home Los Angeles now is your chance.
Their two-month North and South American tour launched in Chile, hit SXSW, and most recently made a stop for their first New York performance ever. Before they wrap things up in Texas and Mexico they will be hitting Los Angeles on April 10th at Dim Mak studios. For this performance they will be joined live by singer Jess, who they have a song with entitled “Foreign Language”.
So far the duo has mostly released mix-tapes and remixes for bands like Bag Raiders, Toecutter, and Sneaky Sound System, but if you’re familiar with them it might be for their original song “Crave You” featuring Australian singer Giselle Roselli. The track is a mellow piano laden crush jam and Giselle’s very open and sweet voice is the perfect mechanism to deliver the lines. Think more daydream than anything forlorn.
Their other song “Foreign Language” is another disrupted romance jam, this time with a lot more disco dance flavor and two-step opportunity. Jess Higgs has a funky voice and it’s not surprising that there was a bootleg roller skating music video released to accompany the song before the real video came out. The actual music video is structured like a delightful 70’s drama with beach babes, a bit of drama, guns, and bell-bottoms.
Check out Flight Facilities April 10th, get tickets here! See if they’ll answer to U-Go-B and Jimmy2sox. Or maybe to Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell. Whatever! In the meantime, here’s their video for Crave You.
