LabArtLA Grand Opening Promises Street Art And More

On Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

If you’re a good little Minx and you didn’t love street art before, then surely you saw “Exit Through the Gift Shop” and now you’ve been convinced of how cool it is.

Okay, so if that didn’t make it onto your Netflix then we’ve got the next best thing: LabArtLA is a wonderful stew of the best up-and-coming artists all in one place so you can get your art on without having to do all the leg work.

The grand opening of LabArtLA took place this weekend and promises art and installations by 30 of the most well-known artists of the LA Street Art scene. If you saw the above film then you’ll recognize names like Mr. Brainwash, Smear, Alec Monopoly, Zombie, K H Number 7, Thank You X, Dog Byte, Septerhed, Homo Riot, and Kophns One. To be clear: this is a sampling of the artists you can expect, but there are many more and this will definitely be worth the trip.

And because LabArtLA deals with street art, a notoriously underground and unconventional method of art, it’s a guarantee that this won’t be like any old trip to the MOCA. Rather, when you venture to see these artists you can expect something completely unique and compelling, which is right up a Minx’s alley.

LabArtLA Grand Opening – Friday, May 13th – 11:00-7:00 p.m -217 South La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, CA
