Playing Hard To Get

Such is the allure that owner Sean Patrick had the good sense to maximize on with TEMPORARY SPACES: VOLUME 2. The bar, packed with gorgeous hipsters in vintage T’s, functions not only as a well-stocked establishment, but as a roaming art exhibit as well. Everything from the glittery bathroom fixtures, massive chandeliers, antique cash registers, and even the lock on the front door are all, as the bar name suggests, temporary. With Patrick boxing it up every two months and moving on to the next locale, it’s no wonder a loyal crowd flocks here to get in while they can.
But the bar’s main staples remain: a random location spilling with chocolate brown furniture, buxom bartenders sporting red lipstick and black-satin jumpsuits, an outdoor, vine covered patio with plenty of seating, and a front door that gives off the impression of a speakeasy rather than a club.
The dance floor packs in a crowd that’s ready for anything— from 80’s to hip-hop, and remixes to originals— the music is refreshingly unpretentious. Tracks are spun by a list of semi-famous DJ’s, like She Wants Revenge’s Adam 12 and Lady Sovereign, as well as the A-list owner himself, Patrick.
There’s no telling where Temporary Spaces will unpack next and, unlike your typical bar, they only have two to three events each week. So, to get the inside scoop and RSVP, shoot an Email to ideaevents@sbcglobal.net.
